Things you always wanted to do, but didn't: Get my degree in architecture and interior design. That didn't come to fruition because my parents made me major in education (since I previously had always wanted to be a teacher), but I was fortunate enough to be able to design and build 4 houses over the last 22 years, so I’m happy with that. :)
Things you're still thinking of doing: My family and some Purdue faculty think I’d be a good private eye, so who knows. Lol
Things you remember most about your years at LHS: 1) Friends, of course. 2) The food on Mr. Wilbanks’ shirt and tie after lunch, and his crazy passion for literature. 3) Mr. Huffman’s beet-red face when he'd get mad at the boys for misbehaving. His face also got that red when I told him I was quitting band in my senior year so I could be in the cheer block. He was not a happy camper! 4) Running across the street to Bolin\'s for donuts during the period to work on the Tattler. Mr. Blackburn saw me coming back into the building once...and he just smiled and said hi. Whew! 5) Last, but certainly not least, how many of my classmates had no clue how to pronounce my name. Lol ;-)
Obstacles you've overcome since high school: Ugh...

Work history: After graduating from Butler University with a BA in History I spent the next 12 years in the Marine Corps as a Radar Intercept Officer flying fighters (F-4 Phantoms). Between Squadrons I spent a year and have in a Special Operations airborne unit (ANGLICO) where I was jumping out of aircraft and directing close air support and naval gunfire for allied countries and Army Rangers. By the time I got out of the USMC I had earned a Masters in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. For a time I worked at a maritime outfitter in San Diego before getting hired at Northrop-Grumman on the B-2 Stealth Bomber program. Once my first son was born Laurie and I decided that we did not want to raise him in CA, so I stuck the point of a compass in the middle of lake Wawasee and scribed a 3 hour arc and began my job search. I worked for AM General Corp. for 24 years and finished as Contract Manager, HMMWV Program. I retired on 3/3/20 and got locked down 4 days later, so much for a fun retirement.
Things you always wanted to do, but didn't: Growing up I had 3 dreams for life; be a history Proffesor at the college level, race in the Indy 500, and fly off of aircraft carriers. I was able to operate off of the USS Coral Sea, so I’m 1 for 3. I’ll take that.
Funny or interesting story about travel: Slalom skiing in Subic Bay PI Thanksgiving day 1984.
Things you remember most about your years at LHS: Although I was on the swim team, some of my fondest memories was playing in the band in the Berry Bowl during basketball games, and freezing because Randy Harris and the percussion section would open the windows in the middle of a snow storm.
Any other comments you'd like to share?: It’s sobering to see the number of our classmates that passed away. I was not good at staying in touch with my classmates and that is on me.

Things you always wanted to do, but didn't: Get a Ham license
Things you're still thinking of doing: Through-hike the Appalachian Train.
Funny or interesting story about travel: Which one! When I first arrived in Ukraine, I was told to meet a blue and yellow van to take me to the city where the plant was. When I went out from the terminal there was no van and most of the people had already gone. The city was a 3 hour drive from the airport and this was before cell phones. I also had no contact name or number. I got very lucky. Someone asked me in English if I needed help. It turns out that he and the two people with him were going to the same meetings that I was going to. Although he lived in the US, he was Ukrainian and his family lived halfway between the airport and where we were going. My first meal in Ukraine was a family meal at this guys patents home. It was great! A side note..... the car was a Lada; very small. There were five of us in the car plus luggage. It was a very tight squeeze.
