Carolyn Sue (Susie) Reutebuch

Carolyn Sue (Susie) Reutebuch

Though we lost her here on November 10, 2024, she was reunited with her beloved mother and father Marian and Robert Campbell, her sister Vicki Brumett-Price, her nephew Jeromey Brumett, and her adopted sister, Sis Buck. Just know that while we shed our tears down here, they are singing Patsy Cline and the heavens have never sounded more sweet. Because everywhere that Susie went, song and dance followed.

On March 27, 1953 a devil named Bob Campbell and an angel named Marian Campbell gave birth to a legend we know as Susie Campbell Reutebuch. Her real first name was Carolyn, most people don’t know that as she never went by it, but she was named after her Uncle Carl Baker who died in WWII. And that is the last that name will be said here, because to everyone she knew, she was Susie. She was the youngest of four sisters, Elizabeth (Thomas), Vicki (Brumett-Price), and Deborah (Kelly).

On January 27, 1979, she married the love of her life Robert “Bob” Reutebuch. For 46 years they built a home of love and laughter. Things weren’t always perfect, but they always found a way to make it through. Together they would go out dancing, fishing, and travel together. She had a special love for the rivers of Logansport.

Aunt Suze, Mama Susie, Susie Q, she had many titles but the ones she loved the most were mom and Mimi. She had two children, Ryan Robert Reutebuch, and Erin Marian Reutebuch, and they blessed her with grandchildren, Madison Reutebuch, of Logansport, Chelsey Reutebuch, of Warsaw, Katie Reutebuch, of Argos, Malkia Grewe, of Rochester, Terrell Grewe, of Rochester, Bryce Nethercutt, Steven Cearing, and Willow Cearing , all of Lafayette.

While she only gave birth to two children, she and Bob would end up with dozens of “adopted” children and grandchildren. Among the many she had, her McCloskey boys, Max and Tim and her Cherry Girls, Alicia Johnston, Dawn Turner, Jenny Bechke, and Nicole Raby were the ones that always kept her on her toes the most.

Susie was heaven's love and hell’s wrath in human form. Anyone who knows her has a story that brings a smile to your face. Anyone that saw her mad had a story of how she scared the absolute snot out of them. She could be stubborn, but she was also just as forgiving. She loved big, and she did not like when people messed with those she loved. But more than anything Susie was fun.

There was one thing Susie excelled at, and that was living life with joy and fun. Even in the saddest of circumstances, Susie lifted everyone with the light of her presence. She didn’t need much to be happy. All it ever took was music, dancing, and a bonfire. She didn’t even need all three, just one would do. She always had a joke for every occasion and was quick with a snappy comeback.
